Bye Atlanta

Today we left Atlanta. In October, it was announced that the Atlanta Silverbacks would be taking a year off. So next year there is no team in Atlanta. A little while later Portland called and Jason signed a contract. We will be moving to Portland in March. We hear Portland is a great place to live, plus it has a huge Japanese supermarket, so we are looking forward to it. We are sad to leave the family, but we will be closer to Utah. From tomorrow until we head to Portland we will be staying at Mom and Dad's. Thank you Dad and Mom for everything.

＜さよならアトランタ＞
今日でアトランタを離れることになりました。
１０月、ジェイソンが所属していたアトランタ・シルバーバックスが「来年は休む」と発表。
来年はシルバーバックスのチームが無いということです。
しばらくしてポートランド・ティンバースからオファーがあり、先日契約書にサインをしました。
来年の３月にはポートランドに引っ越す予定です。
ポートランドはとてもいいところらしいし、日本の大きなスーパーがあるのでとても楽しみにしています♪
ジェイソンの家族と離れてしまうのは寂しいですが、ジェイソンのお兄ちゃん家族と弟夫婦、伯母さん家族とは少し近くなります。
明日からポートランドに引っ越すまではジェイソンの実家でお世話になります。
いつも私達を支えてくれるお義父さんとお義母さん、本当にありがとう。

After Christmas we went back to Atlanta and officialy moved out. Today Dad, Mom, Katie, Joey( a YM from church ) and the Missionaries came to help. Jason came home during his lunch break and helped pack. It took a little while but we got it all finished and all into the cars and trailer. For lunch we all ate pizza. Dad and Katie left when the trailer was packed and Mom and I finished up while waiting for Jason. When Jason got home we left. On the way home we went to a Japanese Restaurant and ate Soba.

クリスマスホリデーが明けた後アトランタに戻り、本格的に引越しの準備。
今日は朝から、お義父さんとお義母さん、ケイティ、教会の男の子、宣教師が引越しの手伝いに来てくれました。
ジェイソンは仕事でしたが休憩時間に戻って来て、引越し屋さんらしくテキパキと働いていました。
あっという間に荷物をすべてトレーラーに詰め込み、みんなでピザを食べて、私とお義母さんとで最後の仕上げをし、ジェイソンが仕事から帰って来てからアパートを後にしました。
帰りに日本食レストランに寄って、引越し＆年越しそばを堪能！

Since we got married, Atlanta has been the longest place we have lived. We have lived in Montreal 3 weeks, Vancouver, 6 months, Japan 3-4 months, Atlanta 9 months, and we have been to Alabama many times for short visits. It is a little sad to leave our friends and Atlanta.

私達の今までの結婚生活の中で一番長くいたアトランタ。
今まで、カナダ・モントリオール３週間、カナダ・バンクーバー６ヶ月、日本３～４ヶ月、アトランタ９ヶ月、アラバマを転々としております。
多くはないけど友達もいて、近くに何でもあって便利なアトランタがけっこう気に入ってたので、ちょっと寂しいです…。

＜メリークリスマス！＞
遂にクリスマスです！ 昨夜からジェイソンの実家に来ています。

In the morning when we woke up, in the stockings was a toothbrush, shaving stuff, and chocolates!

朝起きると、靴下は歯ブラシ、シェーバー、チョコレートなどでいっぱいに！

During the Christmas holiday's, we ate lots of good food, played games, watched movies and had lots of fun.

クリスマスホリデーの間はみんなで美味しい料理を食べたり、たくさんゲームをしたり、映画を見たり、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。

☆ジェイソンから聞いたアメリカのクリスマスのお話☆
２５日の朝に、靴下の中にプレゼントが入っていて、ツリーの下に包装されていないプレゼントが置いてあると、サンタが来たということらしいです。
クリスマスの朝、子供達はサンタが来たかチェックするために４時や５時に起きるそうです。
（それぞれの家庭でやり方が違うと思いますが…）

Birthday Party

Today we went to the birthday party of Felipe's son Jonathan, who turned 4 years old. (Felipe played on the Silverbacks with Jason.) Everyone there spoke spanish. The food was Mexican food, and it was the first time I had ever eaten cactus! According to Jason it tasted like lemon and green peppers. It was ok. But the Tortilla with mexican cheese in the middle, I forgot the name, was so good. At first we weren't sure if we should be there because we didn't know anyone, but Felipe and his wife are such nice people that we had a great time.

＜バースデーパーティー＞
アトランタ・シルバーバックスでチームメイトだったフェリーぺの息子、ジョナサン（４歳）のバースデーパーティーへ行ってきました。
彼らの家に着くと招待客はみーんなメキシコ人。
もちろん出てくる料理もメキシコ料理。
初めてサボテンを食べました！
ジェイソン曰く、レモンとピーマンを食べている感じで、まあまあでした。
トルティーヤにメキシコのチーズ（名前は聞いたけど忘れた…）を挟んで焼いたものがとても美味しかったです。
初めは、知らない人ばかりだし大丈夫かなと思っていたけど、料理も美味しかったし、フェリーぺも奥さんも気さくな人達なのでとても楽しめました。

Kenshi was very interested in a car that Jonathan got for his birthday. I think we shoud ask Santa for a car.

ケンくんはジョナサンがプレゼントにもらっていた車のおもちゃを気に入っていた様子。
サンタさんには車のおもちゃをお願いしようかな～。

End of the Year Party

The camera is not working now, so we don't have any pictures for now.
私の不注意でカメラを壊してしまい、これからしばらく写真はありません。

Today the company that Jason has been working for, since November, is having an end of the year party. Tonight Jason was very excited when he left. Jason likes Karaoke and Meat, and they were going to go eat at an all you can eat barbeque and then go sing Karaoke. The food was very good and Karaoke was fun. I was glad he had fun.

＜忘年会＞
１１月から日系の引越し会社で働いているジェイソン。
今日は夜から会社の忘年会があり、張り切って出かけて行きました。
今日の忘年会は、韓国焼肉＆カラオケ！
カラオケ好きのジェイソンは、昨日から車の中で練習をしていました（笑）。
焼肉もすごく美味しかったし、カラオケもすごく楽しかったそうで、初めての忘年会を楽しめて良かったです。
ちなみにカラオケでは、秋川雅史の「千の風になって」、BUMP OF CHICKENの「天体観測」、コブクロの「桜」を歌ったそうです。
私はカラオケがあまり得意ではないので、日本に帰った時には誰かジェイソンをカラオケに誘ってやって下さい（笑）。

Whenever Jason goes to work he learns new words, and improves words that he needed work on. Even though I am with him everyday, I can still tell his Japanese his improving. Even so Jason is not satisfied and sometimes collects elementary study guides from customers that are throwing them away. Jason gets along with everyone. He likes working with the Japanese people and is enjoying this job.

出会う日本人全員が驚くぐらい日本語が上手なジェイソンも（過言ではないと思います）、仕事に行く度に新しい単語を覚えたり、曖昧だった単語の再確認をしています。
毎日一緒にいる私でさえ、ジェイソンの日本語が上達しているのを感じます。
それでも満足しないジェイソンは、お客さんのところで小学校の教科書などダンボールにたくさんもらって来ています。
日本人スタッフとも仲良くさせてもらっているみたいで、日本人と接するのが好きなジェイソンは今の仕事を楽しんでいるようです。

After playing soccer we went Christmas shopping. We went to get the pictures used for the Christmas letter developed and to buy presents for the family. We finished Kenshi's birthday, now it is time to prepare for Christmas and New Years!

トレーニングの後は、クリスマスのお買い物へ。

クリスマスレターの中に入れる写真を現像に出したり、家族へのプレゼントを買いました。

ケンくんの誕生日も無事に終わったし、これからはクリスマスと年末年始の準備だ～！

Birthday Party -Alabama-

Yesterday after the Birthday Party, we quickly packed and headed to Alabama. We had another party with the family. Kenshi had a good time because everyone was celebrating his birthday.

＜バースデーパーティー　－アラバマ－＞
昨日バースデーパーティーをした後、すぐに荷造りをしてアラバマへ。
ジェイソンの家族と一緒にケンくんの誕生日を祝いました。
みんなにお祝いしてもらってケンくんもとっても楽しそうでした。
良かったね、ケンくん。

Kenshi is already 1 year old! This year went by so fast. It seems like yesterday I was breastfeeding Kenshi at the hospital. It makes me happy that Kenshi is so happy and healthy. I am so thankful for Jason and his family and also my family in Japan. Keep growing Kenshi.

ケンくんも遂に１歳！
この１年間、本当に早かったです。
夜中に病院のベッドの上で生まれたてのケンくんにおっぱいをあげていたのが、つい昨日のようです。
ケンくんが元気に１歳を迎えることができ、本当に幸せです。
一緒に育児を頑張ってくれているジェイソンをはじめ、私達を支えてくれているジェイソンの家族、日本にいる私の家族に心から感謝しています。
ケンくん、これからも元気に大きくなってね。

そして、今日はクリスマスレターと年賀状に使う写真を撮りました。
なかなかジッとしてくれないケンくんでしたが、けっこういい写真が撮れました。

After taking a picture with us, it was a picture with Grandma and Grandpa. He held still and even smiled for us. He wouldn't hold still, but that was just for us.

Birthday Party -Atlanta-

We invited family and friends to Kenshi's 1st Birthday Party. I started cooking early in the morning. I slept in later than I wanted to and I didn't think I would get it done, but Hiromi and Brittany helped out and somehow we finished on time. We had a Japanese theme and we ate, mixed rice, california rolls, karaage, chicken katsu, potato salad, edamame, and fruit salad. For cake we ate Ice Cream cake from Dairy Queen. Kenshi even ate a little bit. We had a great time. Thank you for taking time out of you busy schedules for us.

＜バースデーパーティー　－アトランタ－＞
お友達家族を招待して、ケンくんのバースデーパーティーをしました。
私は朝からパーティーのお料理作りでバタバタ。
少し寝坊をしたので、みんなが来るまでに料理を作れるか心配でしたが、途中からヒロミさんやブリトニーが手伝ってくれたので、何とかランチタイムに間に合いました。
今回は日本食をテーマに、炊き込みごはん、カリフォルニアロール、鶏の唐揚げ、チキンカツ、ポテトサラダ、枝豆、フルーツサラダを作りました。

ケーキはデイリークイーンのアイスクリームケーキ！
ケンくんも少しだけ食べました。
みんな忙しい中来てくれてありがとう！

Party City

We went to Party City to prepare for Kenshi's Birthday Party on the 13th. It had a 1 year old section so we bought some decorations and paper plates. They also had lots of Halloween costumes. It was my first time at Party City and I liked it.

＜パーティーシティー＞
１３日に計画しているケンくんのバースデーパーティーの準備のためにパーティーシティーに行きました。
パーティーシティーはその名の通り、パーティーグッズを取り扱うお店です。
１歳のバースデーパーティー用のコーナーがちゃんとあり、飾りや紙皿などを買いました。
ハロウィーンのコスチュームもたくさん売ってありました。
初めてパーティーシティーに行きましたが、とってもたのしかったです。

My Husband

Today I wasn't feeling very well and laid down the whole day. Jason had the day off , so he did the laundry and took care of Kenshi. I did not have say anything and he just did the chores. I was so thankful. After dinner I sent him to the store for some things. He brought me back flowers. What a wonderful husband? Sorry sometimes I am so mean. I love you!

＜愛する旦那様＞
今日は体調が悪くて一日横になっていた私。
ちょうど仕事が休みだったジェイソンは、私の代わりに洗濯物やケンくんのお世話をしてくれました。
私が何も言わなくてもせっせと家事をこなしてくれるジェイソンを見て、本当に感謝の気持ちでいっぱいになりました。
そして、夕飯を食べた後に近くのスーパーまでお使いを頼むと、片手に小さな花束を持って帰って来ました。
本当になんて素晴らしい旦那様でしょう！
時々（いつも？）意地悪してゴメンね（笑）。

The Last Tournament

Today was Jason's last tournament with his u-17s. A game from 10:30 am and 4:30 pm. After this Jason will be done coaching for a while. It was a little sad, but a little relieved as well. We done Jason.

＜最後のトーナメント＞
今日はジェイソンがコーチをするＵ－１７の最後のトーナメントでした。
１０時半からと４時半からの２試合。
これでジェイソンのコーチの仕事も終わりです。
なんだか寂しいような、ホッとしたような。
ジェイソン、ご苦労様。

It is very cold today as well. Even though it is cold Kenshi wants to play outside, so we did for a little bit. The games are 30 min halves, a little shorter than usual. In between games we went to the mall. It was the Saturday before Christmas and the mall was very crowded. We hadn't even thought about what to get Kenshi for Christmas. What should we get him?

今日もとっても寒かった～。
寒くてもケンくんはお外で遊びたいので、少しだけお外へ。
トーナメントの試合は３０分ずつの合計１時間なので、今日は楽チンでした。
午前の試合が終わり、午後の試合まで近くのモールへ。
今日はクリスマス前の土曜日ということで、たっくさんの人でごった返していました。
ケンくんへの誕生日プレゼントもクリスマスプレゼントもまだ考えていない私達。
どぉ～しよぉ～。

The Park

It had been a while, but today we went to the park. Atlanta has continued to be cold, but it doesn't seem to bother the children.

＜公園＞
今日は久しぶりに公園に行きました。
寒い日が続いているアトランタですが、子供はどうして寒くてもこんなに元気なんでしょう？

Kenshi was very excited because we had not been in a while.

When I was washing clothes, I turned around and Kenshi was inside the cabinets. He was having fun until he could not get out, then he started to cry.

結局、自分で出れなくなって泣いていました。

Thanksgiving Story

２００６年１１月２２日。左から、私、ジェイソン、私の友達、ジニーとジェイス。

Thanksgiving is an important time for us. Two years ago at the language school I was going to had a Thanksgiving dinner party. Before the party I was listening to one of my friends love troubles, when who I thought was a janitor asked us where the dinner party was. That is how Jason and I met. It wasn't for people who didn't go to the school, but Jason not knowing that signed up. Jason got a warning. Jason also came with Jeannie and Jace. (Thanks for coming with Jason, Jeannie!) The person who I thought was a janitor is now my sweet honey. You never know when you are going to meet the one :).

＜感謝祭物語＞

感謝祭は私達夫婦にとって大切なイベントです。

２年前、私が通っていた語学学校で感謝祭のディナーパーティーがあり、ディナーパーティーの前に友達の恋の悩みを聞いていると、「ディナーパーティはどこでありますか？」と清掃員らしき男性が声をかけて来ました。

それが私とジェイソンの出会いです。

本当は語学学校の関係者以外は参加禁止のイベントでしたが、ジェイソンは知らずにサインアップしていました（笑）。

案の定、先生から注意を受けていたジェイソン（笑）。

しかも、ジェイソンはお兄ちゃんの奥さんと赤ちゃんまで連れて来ていました。

（ジニー、ジェイソンに付き合ってくれて本当にありがとう！）

清掃員だと思っていた人が今では愛する旦那様。

出会いはいつ訪れるか分かりません（笑）。

Thanksgiving

Last night after leaving Kazu and Hiromi's house, we headed straight to Alabama to spend Thanksgiving with Mom and Dad.

＜感謝祭＞
昨日の夜、カズさんとヒロミさんの家を出た後、感謝祭をジェイソンの家族と過ごすため、そのままアラバマへ。

Thanksgiving was kind of like New Years in Japan. Families get together and eat a special type of food. For thanksgiving it was turkey. Mom made a lot of food. It was so good and I ate till I was full.

感謝祭は日本のお正月みたいな感じで、家族みんなが集まり、七面鳥を始め感謝祭の特別な料理を食べます。
マクラフリン家もお母さんがたくさんの料理を作ってくれました。
七面鳥の丸焼き、ドレッシング（七面鳥を焼く時に七面鳥の中に入れたクルトン）、グレービーソース（七面鳥の油で作ったソース）、ロール、マッシュドポテト、いんげんのキャセロール、スイートポテトのキャセロール、ピスタッチオプディングサラダ、デザートにパンプキンパイ、ピーカンパイ、チーズクリームパイ。
本当にたーくさんのご馳走でお腹いっぱいでした。

感謝祭の翌日はアメリカ全土で大きなセールがあります。
私もセールに行く気満々で、お母さんにも一緒に行こうと誘われましたが、朝４時からと聞いて即効断念しました（笑）。
朝早くからのセールでもたくさんの人で混み合っていたみたいです。

A few days after Thanksgiving, Mom and Dad babysat Kenshi while Jason and I went on a date. We decided to go eat sushi. Even though it is cheaper and the fish is fresh in Japan, we were happy to eat it anyway.

感謝祭の翌日の夜は、ケンくんをお母さんとお父さんに預けてジェイソンとデートへ。
この日はさっぱりしたものを食べたくて、日本食レストランでお寿司を食べました。
日本だったら同じ金額でもっと新鮮でたくさんのお寿司が食べれるねー、と言いながら美味しくいただきました。

On Saturday night, Dad, Katie, Cory, Jason and I went to go see a movie. We went and saw "Twilight." It is very popular among teens now. Of course they didn't have subtitles and I wasn't able to understand everything, but it was ok. In the theater it was mostly young girls. They kept laughing, but I couldn't figure out what they were laughing at. When I asked Jason what was so funny, He didn't seem to know either. It must be there age.

土曜日の夜は、お父さんとケイティ、ケイティのボーイフレンド、ジェイソン、私の５人で映画を観に行きました。
今、アメリカのティーンに大人気の『トワイライト』を観ました。
もちろん字幕無しなので、私は全ての会話を理解することはできませんでしたが、まあまあでした（笑）。
館内はほとんど若い女の子で、どうしてそんなにおかしいの？って思うほど、みんなクスクス笑っていました。
ジェイソンに「何がおかしいの？」と聞くと、「さぁ？分かんない」だそうで。
きっと、箸が転んでもおかしい年頃なんでしょうね（笑）。

「アイ　ドント　ノー」

This was Kenshi's first and my second Thanksgiving. This time last year I was in Japan, and it was right before Jason came to Japan. I told Jason, "I want to eat pumpkin pie!" over the phone. It seems not to long ago. This year the food was great, and we played games, set up the Christmas tree and put up decorations, and put up lights around the house. It was a great Thanksgiving.

今回の感謝祭は、ケンくんにとって初めて、私にとって２回目の感謝祭でした。
去年の今頃は、私は日本にいて、ジェイソンは日本に来る直前でした。
ジェイソンに電話で「パンプキンパイ食べたーい！」と言っていたのが、つい最近のようです。
今年はみんなで美味しいご馳走を食べて、ゲームをしたり、クリスマスツリーを出して飾り付けをしたり、家の周りにイルミネーションを付けたり、本当に楽しい感謝祭でした。

It has been a long time.

It has been a while since we ate with Kazu, Hiromi, and Mia. We went to there new house (which they moved to 3 months ago). Jason was very excited because we ate Okonomiyaki (cabbage pancake) and yakisoba (noodles). It was so fun and the time just flew by.

＜久しぶり＞

久しぶりにカズさんとヒロミさん、ミアちゃんと一緒にごはんを食べました。

３ヶ月くらい前に引っ越された、かわいいお家におじゃましました。

お好み焼きと焼きそばをご馳走になり、ジェイソンも大喜び！

とっても楽しくて、あっという間に時間が過ぎてしまいました。

Finally we have some upper teeth! When he laughs he looks so cute with his upper teeth!

Concert

Today we went to see Marie play in a concert. There were more cars there than we thought. It took us a while to find a parking spot and we didn't make it in time to see Marie play. We did listen to the high school students that played right after though. They played very well. Lately Kenshi has shown a great interest in music. When a loud song comes on, Kenshi shakes his hands like he is conducting. We had a great time.

＜コンサート＞
今日は、夜からテイラーさんのところのマリエちゃんのコンサートに行きました。
思った以上に車が多く、駐車場を探すのに時間がかかってしまい、残念ながらマリエちゃんの演奏には間に合いませんでした。
でも、その後の高校生の演奏を何曲か聞けました。
高校生とは思えないほど素晴らしい演奏でした。
最近、音楽にとても興味を示しだしたケンくん。
激しい曲が流れると、両手を広げて上下に動かしてまるで指揮者のようでした（笑）。
とってもいい時間を過ごせて楽しかったです。

Getting Close to Christmas

It is only 1 month and 2 weeks until Christmas. It's hard to believe it is already Christmas season, so we went to scout out presents at the mall. All the stores were having big sales. Christmas is exciting, but it is so hard picking out presents.

＜クリスマスに向けて＞
クリスマスまで、あと１ヶ月と２週間。
あっという間に今年もクリスマスのシーズンになりました。
ということで、クリスマスプレゼントの下見にモールへ行きました。
モールもクリスマス商戦が始まっています。
クリスマス。ワクワクするけど、プレゼントやら何やらで焦ります。

Kenshi found a dog inside Old Navy. He found out that if you press the red button next to the dog it would bark. He couldn't get enough barking because he continued to press the button for a long time.

ボタンを押すとワンちゃんが話すことに気付いて、ボタン押しまくりでした。

Fallen Leaves

Fall is over and there are a lot of leaves on the ground. Around our apartment there are a lot of leaves on the ground and Kenshi likes to play with leaves. He used to eat them, but he figured out that if you step on them they make a sound. Now he just goes around stomping on them.
