Thanksgiving Story

Thanksgiving is an important time for us. Two years ago at the language school I was going to had a Thanksgiving dinner party. Before the party I was listening to one of my friends love troubles, when who I thought was a janitor asked us where the dinner party was. That is how Jason and I met. It wasn't for people who didn't go to the school, but Jason not knowing that signed up. Jason got a warning. Jason also came with Jeannie and Jace. (Thanks for coming with Jason, Jeannie!) The person who I thought was a janitor is now my sweet honey. You never know when you are going to meet the one :).

＜感謝祭物語＞

感謝祭は私達夫婦にとって大切なイベントです。

２年前、私が通っていた語学学校で感謝祭のディナーパーティーがあり、ディナーパーティーの前に友達の恋の悩みを聞いていると、「ディナーパーティはどこでありますか？」と清掃員らしき男性が声をかけて来ました。

それが私とジェイソンの出会いです。

本当は語学学校の関係者以外は参加禁止のイベントでしたが、ジェイソンは知らずにサインアップしていました（笑）。

案の定、先生から注意を受けていたジェイソン（笑）。

しかも、ジェイソンはお兄ちゃんの奥さんと赤ちゃんまで連れて来ていました。

（ジニー、ジェイソンに付き合ってくれて本当にありがとう！）

清掃員だと思っていた人が今では愛する旦那様。

出会いはいつ訪れるか分かりません（笑）。

Thanksgiving

Last night after leaving Kazu and Hiromi's house, we headed straight to Alabama to spend Thanksgiving with Mom and Dad.

＜感謝祭＞
昨日の夜、カズさんとヒロミさんの家を出た後、感謝祭をジェイソンの家族と過ごすため、そのままアラバマへ。

Thanksgiving was kind of like New Years in Japan. Families get together and eat a special type of food. For thanksgiving it was turkey. Mom made a lot of food. It was so good and I ate till I was full.

感謝祭は日本のお正月みたいな感じで、家族みんなが集まり、七面鳥を始め感謝祭の特別な料理を食べます。
マクラフリン家もお母さんがたくさんの料理を作ってくれました。
七面鳥の丸焼き、ドレッシング（七面鳥を焼く時に七面鳥の中に入れたクルトン）、グレービーソース（七面鳥の油で作ったソース）、ロール、マッシュドポテト、いんげんのキャセロール、スイートポテトのキャセロール、ピスタッチオプディングサラダ、デザートにパンプキンパイ、ピーカンパイ、チーズクリームパイ。
本当にたーくさんのご馳走でお腹いっぱいでした。

感謝祭の翌日はアメリカ全土で大きなセールがあります。
私もセールに行く気満々で、お母さんにも一緒に行こうと誘われましたが、朝４時からと聞いて即効断念しました（笑）。
朝早くからのセールでもたくさんの人で混み合っていたみたいです。

A few days after Thanksgiving, Mom and Dad babysat Kenshi while Jason and I went on a date. We decided to go eat sushi. Even though it is cheaper and the fish is fresh in Japan, we were happy to eat it anyway.

感謝祭の翌日の夜は、ケンくんをお母さんとお父さんに預けてジェイソンとデートへ。
この日はさっぱりしたものを食べたくて、日本食レストランでお寿司を食べました。
日本だったら同じ金額でもっと新鮮でたくさんのお寿司が食べれるねー、と言いながら美味しくいただきました。

On Saturday night, Dad, Katie, Cory, Jason and I went to go see a movie. We went and saw "Twilight." It is very popular among teens now. Of course they didn't have subtitles and I wasn't able to understand everything, but it was ok. In the theater it was mostly young girls. They kept laughing, but I couldn't figure out what they were laughing at. When I asked Jason what was so funny, He didn't seem to know either. It must be there age.

土曜日の夜は、お父さんとケイティ、ケイティのボーイフレンド、ジェイソン、私の５人で映画を観に行きました。
今、アメリカのティーンに大人気の『トワイライト』を観ました。
もちろん字幕無しなので、私は全ての会話を理解することはできませんでしたが、まあまあでした（笑）。
館内はほとんど若い女の子で、どうしてそんなにおかしいの？って思うほど、みんなクスクス笑っていました。
ジェイソンに「何がおかしいの？」と聞くと、「さぁ？分かんない」だそうで。
きっと、箸が転んでもおかしい年頃なんでしょうね（笑）。

「アイ　ドント　ノー」

This was Kenshi's first and my second Thanksgiving. This time last year I was in Japan, and it was right before Jason came to Japan. I told Jason, "I want to eat pumpkin pie!" over the phone. It seems not to long ago. This year the food was great, and we played games, set up the Christmas tree and put up decorations, and put up lights around the house. It was a great Thanksgiving.

今回の感謝祭は、ケンくんにとって初めて、私にとって２回目の感謝祭でした。
去年の今頃は、私は日本にいて、ジェイソンは日本に来る直前でした。
ジェイソンに電話で「パンプキンパイ食べたーい！」と言っていたのが、つい最近のようです。
今年はみんなで美味しいご馳走を食べて、ゲームをしたり、クリスマスツリーを出して飾り付けをしたり、家の周りにイルミネーションを付けたり、本当に楽しい感謝祭でした。

It has been a long time.

It has been a while since we ate with Kazu, Hiromi, and Mia. We went to there new house (which they moved to 3 months ago). Jason was very excited because we ate Okonomiyaki (cabbage pancake) and yakisoba (noodles). It was so fun and the time just flew by.

＜久しぶり＞

久しぶりにカズさんとヒロミさん、ミアちゃんと一緒にごはんを食べました。

３ヶ月くらい前に引っ越された、かわいいお家におじゃましました。

お好み焼きと焼きそばをご馳走になり、ジェイソンも大喜び！

とっても楽しくて、あっという間に時間が過ぎてしまいました。

Finally we have some upper teeth! When he laughs he looks so cute with his upper teeth!

＜歯＞
ようやく上の歯も生えてきました！
笑う度に見える歯がとってもかわいい！

Concert

Today we went to see Marie play in a concert. There were more cars there than we thought. It took us a while to find a parking spot and we didn't make it in time to see Marie play. We did listen to the high school students that played right after though. They played very well. Lately Kenshi has shown a great interest in music. When a loud song comes on, Kenshi shakes his hands like he is conducting. We had a great time.

＜コンサート＞
今日は、夜からテイラーさんのところのマリエちゃんのコンサートに行きました。
思った以上に車が多く、駐車場を探すのに時間がかかってしまい、残念ながらマリエちゃんの演奏には間に合いませんでした。
でも、その後の高校生の演奏を何曲か聞けました。
高校生とは思えないほど素晴らしい演奏でした。
最近、音楽にとても興味を示しだしたケンくん。
激しい曲が流れると、両手を広げて上下に動かしてまるで指揮者のようでした（笑）。
とってもいい時間を過ごせて楽しかったです。

Getting Close to Christmas

It is only 1 month and 2 weeks until Christmas. It's hard to believe it is already Christmas season, so we went to scout out presents at the mall. All the stores were having big sales. Christmas is exciting, but it is so hard picking out presents.

＜クリスマスに向けて＞
クリスマスまで、あと１ヶ月と２週間。
あっという間に今年もクリスマスのシーズンになりました。
ということで、クリスマスプレゼントの下見にモールへ行きました。
モールもクリスマス商戦が始まっています。
クリスマス。ワクワクするけど、プレゼントやら何やらで焦ります。

Kenshi didn't like the fountain in front of the mall.

Kenshi found a dog inside Old Navy. He found out that if you press the red button next to the dog it would bark. He couldn't get enough barking because he continued to press the button for a long time.

ボタンを押すとワンちゃんが話すことに気付いて、ボタン押しまくりでした。

Fallen Leaves

Fall is over and there are a lot of leaves on the ground. Around our apartment there are a lot of leaves on the ground and Kenshi likes to play with leaves. He used to eat them, but he figured out that if you step on them they make a sound. Now he just goes around stomping on them.

＜落ち葉＞
秋も終わりになり、今は落ち葉がいっぱいです。
私達のアパートも落ち葉がいっぱいで、ケンくんは落ち葉で遊ぶのが大好きです。

The Temple and Friends

Today we took turns with Beau and Brittany going to the Temple. While they were at the Temple I took care of the children. Jason had a game in the morning, so I had all 3 children by myself for the first little while. I was very worried, but they were very good, which made it easy. Right before Jason got home all 3 started to cry at the same time which was rough. Even when I was holding Ellie and Sydney, Kenshi did not get jealous at all. He was a very good boy. When Beau and Brittany got back it was Jason and our turn to go to the temple. Even while we were gone Kenshi was a good boy. After we got back we all ate taco soup, chili and scones. We had a fun time.

＜神殿＆友達＞
今日はボーとブリトニーと交代で神殿に行きました。
彼らが神殿に行っている間、私は子供達の子守りです。
ジェイソンは午前中にＵ－１７の試合があったので、途中までは私１人で３人の子供…。
少し心配でしたが、子供達がいい子にしてくれていたのでけっこう楽でした。
ジェイソンが帰って来る少し前に、３人が同時にグズリ始めたのは大変でしたが…。
エリーやシドニーを抱っこしてもヤキモチを焼かなかったケンくん。
とてもいい子だったね。
ボーとブリトニーが帰って来てから、今度はジェイソンと私が神殿へ。
私達が神殿に行っている間も、ケンくんはいい子にしてくれていたみたいです。
夜は私が作ったタコスープと、ブリトニーが作ったチリとスコーンを食べながら楽しい時間を過ごしました。

U-19 Game -Day 2-

Today there was a U-19 game. At today's game there was an amazing playground, one like I have never seen, near the field.

＜Ｕ－１９試合　－２日目－＞
今日もＵ－１９の試合へ。
今日の試合はきれいな公園であって、遊具も今までに見たことのないものばかり。

It had a handle that if you spun it around it would sound like a wave.
ハンドルを回すと波みたいな音がします。 It had metal and wood music makers.
鉄琴や木琴までありました。

Kenshi played on the slide.
今日も滑り台でいっぱい遊びました。

I forgot to bring Kenshi's diapers today. On the day I forget to bring diapers he poops his pants right when we get there. For 2 hours he had to stay like that. Sorry Kenshi!

今日はケンくんのおむつを持って来るのを忘れてしまいました。
そういう時に限ってウンチをしてしまうんですよね…。
２時間もおむつの中にウンチを入れたまま遊んでいたケンくん。
本当にゴメンね！

U-19 Game -Day 1-

Today we went with Jason to his U-19 game. I thought the weather was going to be nice, so I put some shorts on Kenshi. The wind was strong and cold. So we spent the second half in the car. Kenshi wanted to play more. Sorry Kenshi.

＜Ｕ－１９試合　－１日目－＞
今日もジェイソンについてＵ－１９の試合へ。
今日は天気がいいと思ってケンくんにハーフパンツを履かせたのに、フィールドは風が強くてけっこう寒かったです。
なので、ケンくんと私は後半から車の中へ。
もっと遊びたそうだったケンくん。ごめんね。

Can you give Mama some of your snack? Kenshi can now give things. (After you say "here you go" and he gives it to you he wants it back immediately.)
ママにもスナックをくれるの？

最近「どうぞ」ができるようになったケンくん。
（「どうぞ」をしても、すぐに「返して～」とグズってしまいますが）

Stone Mountain

I finally went to where I had been wanting to go, Stone Mountain. Just like the name it is a big Rock Mountain. Stone Mountain has many different attractions, one of which is a playground, but it was closed. We found a parking lot and decided to climb to the top. Jason was very excited. I was just thinking we could have a picnic while we looked at the mountain. About 2 minutes after I started climbing I couldn't breathe. Jason must have known because he was asking me if I was going to be alright and if I would make it to the top. Because we started I wanted to go all the way to the top.

＜ストーンマウンテン＞
ずっと行ってみたかったストーンマウンテンに行ってきました。
名前の通り岩の山で、山が岩なのが不思議な感じでした。
ストーンマウンテン公園は山だけでなく色々なアトラクションがあり、まずはプレイグラウンドへ。
しかし、残念ながら通行止めになっていて行けませんでした。
近くの駐車場に車を止めて少し歩くと、もうそこからストーンマウンテンに登れるようになっていて、ジェイソンは登る気満々！
私はストーンマウンテンを眺めながらピクニック♪程度にしか思っていませんでしたが、せっかくなので登ることに。
登り始めて２分後には息が切れていた私に、ジェイソンは「どうする？ここまでにする？頂上まで頑張る？」と様子を伺ってきます。
本当は頂上まで登りたいクセに（笑）。
登り始めたからには頂上まで登りたいので、頑張りました！

Kenshi was very excited. On the way down Kenshi fell asleep.
今日はずっと大興奮だったケンくん。

いつの間にか眠ってしまいました。

Stone Mountain had already begun preparation for Christmas. It was midday when we went, but we could tell there were a lot of lights hung. They have a lot of Christmas events and it is less than 30 minutes away so I would like to go again.

ストーンマウンテン公園ではもうクリスマスの準備が始まっていました。
私達が行った時はお昼で分かりにくかったですが、イルミネーションがたくさん仕掛けてありました。
今月からクリスマスのイベントが色々あるみたいなので、家から３０分もかからないし、また行きたいな～。

Teeth and Eating Time

About 10 days ago Kenshi's first tooth started to come through. They say the later the better, but I was a little worried because it seemed too late. His front teeth are so cute (according to Mama and Papa).

＜歯＆食べる時＞

１０日くらい前からケンくんの歯が生えてきました！

歯は遅い方がいいとよく聞きますが、それでもちょっと遅すぎるのでちょっと心配していました。

かわいい前歯がチラッと見えるたびに喜んでいるパパとママです。

Kenshi always makes noise when he is eating. "un un un." It is fun to listen to him, but I wonder how long he will make noise while he is eating.

いつも「ん～ん～」と声を出しながら食べるケンくん。

美味しそうに食べてかわいらしいけど、大きくなっても声を出しながら食べるのかな…。

U-19 Game and New Friends

Today Jason had a game. The sun was so strong today that Kenshi and I just stayed in the shade and played at the playground.

＜Ｕ－１９試合＆新しいお友達＞
今日もお昼からＵ－１９の試合へ。
今日も日差しがとても強く、ケンくんと私はフィールドには行かず、日陰や公園で遊んでいました。

Kenshi really liked the sand. He was interested in the way the sand just flowed through his hands.

今日は砂がお気に入りだったケンくん。

サラサラ流れていく砂を不思議そうに見ていました。

On the way home we saw a hot air balloon.
帰りに気球を見かけました！

At night we went to a friend's house. We met them a week ago at the Halloween party. We ate fried pork and potato salad that Eiko had made. Jason loves tonkatu (fried pork) so he was very excited. Eiko is from the Tokyo area and they like it spicy. We have never eaten it like that at my house, but it was very good.

夜は、先週のハロウィーンパーティーで知り合ったテイラーさんのお宅へ。

エイコさん手作りのトンカツとポテトサラダをいただきました。

トンカツが大好物のジェイソンは、トンカツを前にかなりテンションが上がっていました（笑）。

エイコさんは関東出身の方で、関東ではトンカツにソースとからしをつけて食べるそうです。

関西よりの鳥取出身の私。

関西でもからしをつけて食べる人もいるかもしれないけど、ウチではからしをつけて食べたことがなかったのでビックリ仰天でした（笑）。

私も試してみましたが、けっこう美味しかったです。

After talking, Jason played the piano a little. He hasn't played the piano in a long time, but played it very well. Marie played the violin, and Jason asked for an encore.

ジェイソンがピアノを弾けるという話から、ジェイソンがみんなの前で演奏することに。

もう何年も練習していないのに、上手に弾けていました。

私は楽器が何もできないので、ピアノを弾ける主人は尊敬しちゃいます。

その後は、マリエちゃんがバイオリンを演奏してくれました。

とても素晴らしい演奏で、ジェイソンはアンコールをお願いしていました。

とても楽しくて、時間があっという間に過ぎてしまいました。

U19 Game

Today Jason had a game in downtown Atlanta. The field was in the middle of a neighborhood. We saw alot of different houses and also saw houses that still had Halloween decorations. We had alot of fun on the way to the field. The sun was very bright today, so Kenshi and I played in the shade.

＜Ｕ－１９試合＞

Ｕ－１９の試合でアトランタ市内のフィールドへ。

住宅街の中にあるフィールドだったので、まだ残っているハロウィーンの飾りを見たり、色んな家を見たり、フィールドに着くまでにけっこう楽しめました。

今日は日差しが強かったので、ケンくんと私は日陰で遊んでいました。

Lately Kenshi has started to like sticks, pens or anything of the sort.

最近、棒がお気に入り。
