ピクニック Picnic

マクラフリン家、ピクニックが大好きです！
家族と一緒に、いいお天気の下（マクラフリン家は多少寒くても決行！）、のんびりと何かを食す。
この時間が大好きです！
「お外でごはん食べるよ～」と言うと、ケンくんもテンション上がっちゃいます！

We love picnics!
We love being together in great weather eating lunch. (Even if it is a little cold.)

The neighbor's dogs smelled the food and came over, and there were bugs flying around so I was a little irritated.

新しい学期が始まり、勉強の毎日のジェイソン。
その勉強の合間に、どうやら新しい趣味に没頭している模様。

正確に言うと、庭の手入れ。
荒れ果てた庭の林を少しずつキレイにしては、満足しています。笑
ポイズンアイビー（漆）で指や腕がかぶれても、勉強の息抜きと言い、林の中へ消えて行くジェイソンです。

He has been cleaning up the back yard.
Little by little he has been getting rid of the vines in the back, and seems to enjoy himself.
Even though he gets poison ivy all over his hands and arms, when ever he takes a break from studying, off he disappears into the woods.

新しいクラス New Classes

教会で、先月からケンくんは光のクラス、ユウくんは託児のクラスになりました。

Last month, Kenshi went in to sunbeams and Yuushi started nursery at church.



光のクラスになってから、張り切って一人でクラスまで行くようになったケンくん。
光のクラスでは、ぬり絵、工作、お歌、年齢の大きなお兄ちゃんやお姉ちゃん達と一緒にお話を聞いたりする時間があったり、イエス・キリストや教会について少しずつ学んでいきます。
こっそりクラスを覗いてみると、ちゃんといい子に座って先生のお話を聞いていました。すごーい！
ケンくん、光のクラスがとっても好きなようです。

Since going to Sunbeams, Kenshi is very excited and will go to class by himself.
When I peek into the class, he is sitting quietly listening to the lesson. WOW!
Kenshi loves his Sunbeam class.



ユウくんはと言うと、まだクラスに入る前は大泣きですが、しばらくするといい子で遊んだりしているようです。
ただ、途中から眠気が襲ってくるようで、この間もお迎えに行くと、テーブルの下で爆睡していました。笑

Yuushi on the other hand is screaming before going into class, but after a little bit calms down.
But, he always gets very sleepy, and when I went to pick him up the other day he was sleeping under the table.



どんどん成長していく二人。
二人が元気に成長してきていることに感謝です。

They just keep getting growing.
I am so thankful that they are healthy and growing.

シュガークッキー Sugar Cookies

グランマが作った生地をケンくんとユウくんが色んな型で抜いてクッキーづくり。
このシュガークッキー、みんなが飛びつくほど美味しかったです！
普段甘い物を控えているジェイソンもシュガークッキーには勝てませんでした。笑

Grandma made the dough, Kenshi and Yuushi used cookie cutters to make shapes and then we baked them.
These sugar cookies were so good!
Even Jason who tries to stay away from sweets could not stay away.

ちなみに、これは私が日本のレシピを使って作ったシュガークッキー。

On the other hand, these are the cookies I made from a japanese recipe.



見た目も味もグーでしたが、子供達の歯が折れるんじゃないかと心配するくらい固かったです。汗
床に落としても、テーブルに叩き付けても割れないクッキー。
大雑把な性格が裏目に出てしまいました・・・。

They looked very good, but they were so hard that I thought the boys might break a tooth trying to eat them.
You could drop them or even bang them on the table and they would not break.
My halfhearted effort backfired...

お誕生日にもらった愛車のJeepにユウくんを乗っけて、ほぼ毎日お庭をブイブイ走っています。

He loves to ride with Yuushi around in his Jeep that he got for his birthday, which he drives around the yard most days.

18ヶ月 18 Months Old

お兄ちゃんよりよく食べ、食の太いユウくん。
去年、日本に帰省していた時も、みんなを驚かすほどよく食べ、「ほんに、よぉ食べるなぁ～。謙志より大きくなるでぇ～。」とまで言われていたのに、とってもおチビさんです。

Last year when we were in Japan, everyone was amazed at how much Yuushi eats, even though he is so small.



いつも食事の後片付けが大変・・・。

Cleanup afterward is quite the job though.





でも、毎日この笑顔に癒されています。

But, everyday his smile makes my day.

冬支度 Winter Preparations

2010/10/03

去年の冬用の帽子が今年も使えるか試してみました。
帽子が気に入って、しばらくこのままで遊んでいた二人。笑
アラバマもやっと寒くなって来たので、そろそろ出番かな～。

I decided to see if the winter hats from last year were going to work this year.
They liked their hats and kept them on while playing.

パンプキンパッチ Pumpkin Patch

2010/10/16

ハロウィーンに続いてパンプキンパッチの記録も・・・。

Along with Halloween, I will write about the pumpkin patch.




家から45分くらい離れた農場へパンプキンパッチに。

We went to a pumpkin patch about 45 minutes away from the house.

お目当てのヘイライドはお値段高めだったので、お値段安めのトラクタートレインを楽しみました。

The hey ride was expensive, so we went on the less expensive Tractor ride.

ハロウィーン Halloween

感謝祭も終わってしまいましたが、忘れないうちにハロウィーンの記録を・・・。

Thanksgiving already ended, but before I forget I will write about Halloween.




ハロウィーンのあった週は、色んなイベントに参加して楽しいハロウィーンを過ごしました。
今年は、ケンくんは「お猿さん」、ユウくんは必然的に去年のケンくんのお下がりで「ドラキュラ」。

During the week of Halloween we were fortunate to be able to attend many different activities.
This year Kenshi was a monkey and Yuushi was Kenshi's costume from last year Dracula.




自称「お猿さん」なだけに、よく似合っていたケンくん。

He is a self professed monkey and looked cute in his costume.

Jason is supposed to be Woody from Toy Story.






私達家族にとって初めての本格的なTrick or Treet。
こんなトラクターの荷台に乗って、教会の方の近所を回って行きました。

This our family's first real trick or treat.
We got to ride on the trailer behind a four wheeler around our friends neighborhood.






お兄ちゃんやお姉ちゃん達に付いて、ケンくんもキャンディーのために一生懸命走って家々を回りました。

Kenshi followed the older kids from house to house as best as he could to get candy.






近所のお宅のハロウィーンパーティーで。

We went to the Neighbor's house for a Halloween Party.






来年は家族一緒に何かに仮装したいな～！

今日 Today

午前中は、なるべくボーイズをどこかに連れ出すようにしています。
（しっかりお昼寝してもらうためにも。笑）

In the mornings I try to get the boys out of the house.
( I want them to take naps.)




昨日はストーリータイムの日だったので、図書館へ。
クラフトがもう少しで終わりそうな時、突然竜巻警報のサイレンが！
（私達が行っているストーリータイムは、本を2、3冊読んで、クラフトや塗り絵をします）
家を出る時には、嵐が来そうな気配はなかったのでビックリ。
少しヒヤヒヤしましたが、そのまま30分くらい図書館で待機して家路へ。
昨日はその後も悪天候が続き、ボーイズは外で遊べず、家の中で大暴れ・・・。

Yesterday was story time so we went to the library.
When craft time was almost over, suddenly the tornado warning sirens started going off.
( Story time consists of 2 or 3 books and craft or coloring time.)
When we had left the house, there was not any sign of a storm coming and were surprised.
We were a little worried, so we stayed at the library for about 30 minutes before heading home.
After that the bad weather continued so the boys, not being able to go outside, wreak havoc inside.




今日は朝から快晴だったので、お昼前にボーイズといつも行っている公園へ。
思いっきりボーイズを遊ばせるはずだったのに、寒すぎて即退散～！
公園に行くといつも帰りたがらないボーイズも、今日はすんなり車に乗ってくれました。笑

Today the weather was pretty good, so the boys and I went to the park we always go to about mid morning.
I was planning on letting the boys play their hearts out, but it was so cold that we quickly ran away.
The boys never want to go home when we go to the park, but today got in the car without any problem.




公園の大きな木もクリスマス用に飾り付けがされていて、ケンくんも大興奮。
クリスマスツリーの前でピース！

Kenshi got very excited because, the big tree at the park was decorated with Christmas decorations.
