Ultrasound and our last day in Alabama

Today was the day we had been waiting for. Four generations, Grandma McLaughlin, Mom (the other Grandma McLaughlin), Jason, Kenshi and I went together to see the baby in my tummy. Here they only do 1 ultrasound (in Japan they do one everytime). The Nurse that did the ultrasound was very good, and did a great job showing us the baby. The baby was moving his hands and feet and mouth. Very cute. Papa and Mama can't wait to meet you.

＜超音波とアラバマ最後の日＞
今日は待ちに待った超音波の日。
お義母さんとグランマ・マクラフリン、ジェイソン、ケンくん、私の４世代でお腹の赤ちゃんを見てきました。
こちらは、超音波は出産までに１回だけ。（問題がある場合は別ですが）
検診の度に超音波をしてくれる日本と違って、赤ちゃんを見れる貴重な超音波です。
超音波担当のナースはとても上手で、手際が良く、赤ちゃんもはっきり見せてくれました。
お腹の赤ちゃんは、手足を動かしたり、口をパクパクしたり、とても可愛らしかったです。
パパとママはあなたに会える日が待ち遠しいよ～。

As for if it is a boy or a girl, (you probably could tell by what was written already) Number 2 is also a boy! Kenshi and the baby will be 19 months apart. Jason and Jared are also 19 months apart. Hopefully they will become good friends and play sports together.

そして、肝心の性別ですが、はっきり見えてました！
２番目も男の子です！

ケンくんとは１９ヶ月違いになります。
ジェイソンとお義兄ちゃん（私より年下だけど…）も１９ヶ月違い。
彼らのように一緒にスポーツをしたり、仲良く育ってほしいです。

Tomorrow we will leave Alabama. Thank you Dad and Mom for taking care of us. It was a very fun 2 months. Thank you!

遂に明日はアラバマを発つ日。

お世話になりまくったジェイソンの家族に心から感謝しています。

２ヶ月間、本当に楽しかったです。ありがとう！

Extreme Home Makeover

＜Extreme Home Makeover＞
Dad was a leader on the show, "Extreme Home Makeover". Today we all went to see the project.

お義父さんが「Extreme Home Makeover」という番組（日本の「大改造!!劇的ビフォーアフター」みたいな番組）のプロジェクトで、リーダーとして携わることに。
今日はみんなでその現場に行ってきました。

We took a bus from the parking lot to the project.

駐車場から現場まではバスで。

Even though the project was only on it's 4th day, they had done a lot. There were people working round the clock.

プロジェクトが開始してからまだ４日目だというのに、かなり出来上がっていました。

２４時間フル稼働で何千人ものスタッフが働いてるだけあります。

Great Grandma

Yesterday Grandma McLaughlin came to Alabama to visit. She just finished one year and half a mission in Australia last month. At 77 years old, she still drives and can use a computer. It was Kenshi and Grandma McLaughlin's first meeting. A little shy, he gives Grandma a smile from far off.

＜ひいおばあちゃん＞

昨日から、ジェイソンのお父さん方のおばあちゃんがアラバマに遊びに来ています。
マクラフリンおばあちゃんは、先月まで１年半オーストラリアで伝道していました。
７７歳で、車を運転し、パソコンも使いこなすスーパーおばあちゃんです。
ケンくんは、マクラフリンおばあちゃんとは初対面。
恥ずかしがって、少し離れたところからおばあちゃんに笑顔を送っています（笑）。

Yesterday, our camera came back from being fixed. I think it is a brand new one?
昨日、修理に出していたカメラがやっと帰って来ました！
しかも新品かも（？）。Thank you, Panasonic!

In Japan, on Valentine's day the Girls give boys chocolate. In America, family, friends and Lovers give chocolate or cards or presents. This year we sent cards and pictures to family and friends.
＜ハッピーバレンタインデー！＞
日本のバレンタインデーと言えば、女性から男性にチョコレートやプレゼントを贈るのが主流。
アメリカでは、恋人や家族、友達の間でチョコレートやカード、プレゼントを贈るようです。
今年は私達も両親やおばあちゃん達、友達にカードと写真を送りました。

This morning when I woke up, next to my pillow was chocolate and a balloon. Yesterday Jason said he had nothing planned. But this morning he woke up early and went somewhere. I know now.

今朝、目を覚ますと、枕元にチョコレートと風船が。
昨日の時点で、ジェイソンは「何も用意できてない」と言っていたはず。
そう言えば、何も予定がないのに６時半に起きてどこかに行って来た様子のジェイソン。
な～るほど。Thank you, my love!

I was trying to think of what to get Jason, who is always trying to avoid sweets. Last year we were in Japan, I bought a very expensive apple the size of a baby's head. This year I gave him a card with my love(even though Jason thinks it is a waste of money buying cards.)

私はと言うと、日頃から甘いものを控えているジェイソンに何をあげようか、ずっと考えていました。
去年は日本にいたので、ちょっと高級な赤ちゃんの頭くらいあるリンゴ（名前は忘れたけど）をプレゼント。
今年は愛情のこもったカードにさせてもらいました。
（ジェイソンはカードを買うのが無駄だと思っていますが…）
At night Grandma watched Kenshi while Jason and I went to eat Steak. It was very busy when we got there and the waiting time was a surprising 1 hour 45 minutes. We called another place and the waiting time was 2 hours so we waited where we were. Fortunately we only waited 40 minutes. You can't underestimate a saturday + Valentine's day.
夜はケンくんをお義母さんに預けて、ジェイソンと私はステーキハウスへ。
お店に着くとかなりの混雑ぶり。
待ち時間が１時間４５分と言われ、ビックリ！
他のお店に電話をしてみるも、２時間待ちとのことで仕方なく待つことに。
でも実際待った時間は４０分。
バレンタイン＋土曜日を侮ってはいけませんね。
He always watches Baby Einstein, so today we showed him Thomas. Even while changing clothes he was very interested in the TV.
いつもベイビーアインシュタインのDVDばかりなので、今日はトーマスを見させてみました。
お着替えをしながら、噛り付くようにトーマスを見ていたケンくんでした。

Nap

While I was washing dishes, Kenshi was watching a show and fell asleep. He was so cute I had to take a picture.

＜お昼寝＞
私が洗い物をしている間、ケンくんに子供番組を見せていると、いつの間にかスヤスヤ眠っていました。
あまりにも可愛かったのでパチリ！

After the nap he ate lunch and went outside. Kenshi playing in grandmas car. I guess he wanted to go for a drive because when I pulled him out of the car he pitched a fit.

お昼寝の後は、ランチを食べてお外へ。
しばらくグランマの車の中で遊んでいたケンくん。
ドライブに行きたかったようで、車から降ろすと大泣きでした。

Trip to Atlanta

From the 2nd to the 6th Kenshi and I went with Jason to Atlanta. We stayed with Kazu and Hiromi for 3 nights and with Beau and Brittany for 1 night.

＜アトランタトリップ＞
２日から６日までアトランタに行ってきました。
カズさんとヒロミさんのところに３泊、ボーとブリトニーのところに１泊させてもらいました。

On the 1st daywe headed to Kenshi's one year check-up (but didn't make it on time and had to change it to the 5th.) After eating lunch at a Japanese restaurant, we headed to Silverbacks Park to play a little soccer. At night we ate Yakiniku (Japanese Barbeque) with Kazu and Hiromi and Mia. Yakiniku at home was awesome! I liked it so much that I want to buy a hotplate next time I go home to Japan.

１日目…ケンくんの１歳検診の予約をしていたのに時間に間に合わず、５日に変更。
日本食レストランでランチを食べた後、シルバーバックスパークでサッカーのトレーニング。
夕方にカズさんとヒロミさんのところにお邪魔して、夕飯は焼肉を頂きました！
お家で焼肉。やっぱり最高です！
あまりにも感動したので、今度日本に帰った時にはホットプレートを買って帰ろうと決めました！


On the 2nd day we went with Mia to her weekly music class. Singing together doing hand motions, dancing, being in a circle spinning around. At first Kenshi was just checking everyone out and didn't move. He started to move a little, but he didn't want to separate from Mama so I held him most of the time. That night we went to the mall. He was a little shocked here too, and was just checking everything out. After he got used to it he played on the slide and had fun.

２日目…午前中はミアちゃんがいつも行っているミュージッククラスへ。
歌に合わせて手遊びをしたり、ダンスをしたり、みんなで輪になってグルグル回ったり。
初めは周りの様子を伺ってピクリとも動かなかったケンくん。
少し体を動かすことができたけど、なかなかママから離れることができず、途中からはずっと抱っこでした。
夕方は近くのモールのプレイグラウンドへ。
ここでも周りの様子を伺ってピクリとも動かなかったケンくん（笑）。
慣れてくると、すべり台をしたり、楽しそうに遊んでいました。

Also, it was our 2nd anniversary. Kazu and Hiromi said they would take care of Kenshi while we went on a date. We went to a restaurant that they suggested. I ate sushi and Jason ate katsu. For the first time, since I have been in America, I had real taste of Japan. For dessert we went to the Cheesecake factory. It was sooo good!

そして、この日は私達の２回目の結婚記念日。

カズさんとヒロミさんのお言葉に甘えて、ケンくんを二人に預け、私とジェイソンはデートへ。

カズさんとヒロミさんオススメの日本食レストランで、私はお寿司、ジェイソンはトンカツ定食を食べました。

アメリカに来て初めて本当の日本の味を食べれたと言うくらい美味しかったです。

デザートはチーズケーキファクトリーへ。

これまたとっても美味しかったぁ～！

On the 3rd day, Mia had preschool so, Hiromi took Kenshi and I to a nearby library for a story time. Today Kenshi was wiggling his body and clapping his hand. Midway through he got tired of it and Kenshi at Mia's snack that Hiromi had.

３日目…ミアちゃんは朝からプリスクールだったので、ヒロミさんが私とケンくんを近くの図書館でしているストーリータイムに連れて行ってくれました。

ストーリータイムと言っても、ただ本を読むだけでなく、歌に合わせて手遊びをしたり、おもちゃで遊んだり。

ケンくん、今日は体をたくさん動かしたり、パチパチと拍手もできました。

途中からは飽きて、ヒロミさんが持っていたミアちゃんのおやつをモグモグ。

At night we went to the Grocery store.

夕方は近所のスーパーへ。

On the 4th day, we said bye to Hiromi and Kazu and Mia, and off we went to Kenshi's check-up. We barely made it on time. Today he got 5 shots and also drew blood. Good job Kenshi! He was 20 lb 13 oz. and 29 3/4 inches. I thought he was heavier than the scale said, but he is still growing well. After the check-up we went to the outlet mall for shopping! We were tired, but we each found something. That night we stayed at Beau and Brittany's and ate curry for dinner.

４日目…カズさんとヒロミさん、ミアちゃんにバイバイをして、今度こそケンくんの検診へ。

今日はギリギリセーフ！（笑）

ケンくん、今日は予防接種５本に血液検査までしました。

よく頑張ったね。グッジョブ、ケンくん！

体重９．４ｋｇ、身長７５．６ｃｍ。

体重はもっと重い気がしてたけど、とにかく順調に育っているようです。

検診の後はアウトレットモールでショッピング♪

歩き疲れたけど、３人それぞれにいいものが買えて良かったです。

夜はボーとブリトニーのところにお邪魔して、みんなでカレーを食べました。

On the 5th day, the day after the check-up Kenshi got sick and had bad diarrhea. Kenshi was sick all day. That night we said bye to Beau, Brittany, Ellie and Sydney.

５日目…検診が終わってからケンくんの調子が悪く、この日は１日下痢。

１日グッタリだったケンくん。
夜、ボーとブリトニー家族にバイバイをしてアラバマへ。

It was very cold in Atlanta. But it was a very fun Atlanta trip.

久しぶりのアトランタは寒かったぁ～。

でも、とても楽しいアトランタトリップでした。

New Dance

Kenshi has been watching his Einstein videos that he got for Christmas almost everyday. He loves to dance listening to Mozart and Beethoven.

＜新しいダンス＞
クリスマスにベイビー・アインシュタインのDVDをもらってから毎日のように見ているケンくん。
ベートーベンやモーツァルトの音楽に合わせてダンスをするのが大好き！

Today while watching the DVD he started to dance. Mom said, "I have never seen him dance and spin around", so I looked and he was spinning around almost on beat with the music.

今日もDVDを見ながらダンスをしていたケンくん。
お義母さんが「このクルクル回るダンスを見たのは初めてだわ」と言うのでケンくんを見てみると、音楽に合わせてクルクル回っていました（笑）。

NANANA! (Banana) Lately, we stopped cutting the banana and he just eats it as is, which he seems to like.

Doctor's appointment

Today, we went to my first check-up. Today I took a urine test, measured my weight, answered questions, blood test, and listened to the baby's heart. I knew I was pregnant, but when I heard the baby's heart beat, I was happy to know that the baby was doing well. When Kenshi heard the baby's heartbeat, he started talking to the beat saying "a, a, a", which made me start laughing. We waited for about an hour at the doctor's office. Of course Kenshi was moving the entire time. He was just walking around and around and so curious. Thanks for hanging in there Kenshi.

＜検診＞
今日、初めての検診に行ってきました。
今回は尿検査と体重測定、問診、血液検査、赤ちゃんの心音を聞きました。
妊娠しているのは分かっていたけど、初めて赤ちゃんの心音を聞いて、ちゃんとお腹の中で育ってるんだぁと感動しました。
ケンくんが赤ちゃんの心音に合わせて「あ、あ、あ」と言うので、心音を聞いてる最中でしたが、おかしくて笑ってしまいました（笑）。
今日の待ち時間は１時間以上。
もちろん、ケンくんがジッとしているわけがない！
病院の中をウロウロ、色んなものが気になって仕方がありません。
でも、よく頑張ってくれたね、ケンくん。

Catching Up

Finally I have caught up on the blog. I have updated it all at once so when you have time take a look.

＜キャッチアップ＞
やっとブログのキャッチアップができました。
まとめて更新したので、時間がある時に見てみて下さい。

We found out in November that I was pregnant, and I have not been feeling well since. I have felt sluggish, tired, and have been throwing up and haven't felt like doing anything. Cooking and Kenshi have been the only things I have been able to take care of. Jason is always very helpful and is such a wonderful husband. My due date is the beginning of July. We are so excited to meet our 2nd. I am hoping it will be an easier delivery than last time (Last time 41 weeks, Labor 11 hours.) I am exercising 2 to 3 times a week and trying to get some stamina. (However, I have never been good at exercising and going at a SLOW PACE.) Now Morning sickness has calmed down quite a bit and I am enjoying my time here in Alabama.

１１月の初めに私が妊娠していることが発覚し、それからつわりで辛い日々が始まりました。
常に体がだるくて、眠たくて、何をしても吐き気がして、何もする気が起こりませんでした。
料理とケンくんのお世話以外の家事はかなり手抜きをさせてもらいました。
ジェイソンはいつも私を気遣ってくれ、本当に素晴らしい旦那様です。
予定日は７月の初め頃。
私達の第二子と会えるのがとても楽しみです。
今回は少しでも楽に出産できるように（前回は４１週、１１時間の陣痛）、週に２～３回運動して体力作りをしています。
（と言っても、もともと運動は得意ではないのでかなりスローペース…）
今はつわりもかなり楽になり、ジェイソンの実家で楽しく過ごさせてもらっています。

Alabama

Lately it has been very cold in Alabama. Today was a warm day. This is the way Alabama is supposed to be.

＜アラバマ＞
ここ最近とても寒い日が続いていたアラバマ。
今日は久しぶりに暖かい日でした。
やっぱりアラバマはこうでなくっちゃね～。

Dancing!

Kenshi loves music and Dancing. The Mclaughlin family is a musical family, everyone lets Kenshi listen to different kinds of music. He listens to music on Grandpa's computer and dances.

ジェイソンの家族は音楽一家なので、みんながいろんな音楽を聴かせてくれます。

Words

Lately, Kenshi has been communicating with words. He can say "bye bye", "nanana" for banana, and "nana-" for food. He also says "wan wan" and "woof woof" put together for a dog.

＜言葉＞
最近、言葉らしきものを言うようになったケンくん。
「バイバイ（手つき・アメリカ風）」、「ナナナ（バナナ）」、「ナナー！（何か欲しい時）」をよく言います。
あと、「ワンワン」と「Woof-Woof」の中間みたいな感じで、犬のマネもします。

Japanese and English, or for any child learning to speak 2 languages, takes longer to start talking we have heard. I thought Kenshi would be slow too, but little by little he is starting to say things which makes Mama and Papa very happy.

日本語と英語など、２カ国以上の言葉の中で生活する子供は、言葉を話し始めるのが普通の子供に比べて遅いそうです。
ケンくんも多分遅いだろうと思っていたけど、少しずつ言葉を発するようになってパパとママはすごく嬉しいです。
